DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR SUNSHINE VITAMIN

Belize is blessed with plenty of sunshine. However, we are not blessed with it all year round. The 'north' season is upon us. Where we get nice cool weather, and we enjoy pulling out and covering up with our nice thick blanket, all warm and cozy in bed.

Unfortunately, this time of year limits the sunshine we are exposed to and also limits our intake of the "sunshine vitamin." Vitamin D is vital to strong bones and teeth and a healthy immune system.

To get your vitamin D intake from meals, you will need to add to your diet: salmon, sardines, egg yolk, shrimp, milk (fortified), cereal (fortified), yogurt (fortified), orange juice (fortified).

We know, that due to time constraints, it is sometimes a challenge to get your vitamin D intake from food, therefore we recommend going over to your local pharmacy and pick up a bottle of vitamin D supplement. You will not regret the investment.
