HOW TO GET HEALTHY
The first step in becoming healthy is to acknowledge to yourself, that you are indeed living an unhealthy lifestyle. You may eat too much junk food, you may go out every weekend and drink a little too much, you may not do any form of exercise, however, the easiest way to figure out if you are on the slippery road of having an unhealthy lifestyle, is to simply listen to your body.
Here are a few, simple, recommended tips to get back on the healthy band wagon, and since your body and mind will start to become more and more healthy, it will make you a happier person - yes, that's right, one of the biggest secrets to being happy is good health.
STEPS: 1. Eat healthy: This can sometimes be hard, for too many people try to change their entire eating patterns right away. That is difficult. Try replacing one of your normal meal with a healthy meal. If you eat mostly fried food for dinner, then replace it with grilled food. Do, this slowly and gradually, until you replace all unhealthy meals with healthy meals. We have created the Superfood line of products to help make healthy eating even easier. No need to figure out what is what, just cook with our healthy Superfood products and get all the health benefits immediately.
2. Exercise: This can sometimes be hard, for too many people are confused by what to do, especially since there is so much different information floating around on t.v. and the internet. Start by walking each day. If you can walk 2
miles everyday, do so, if you can only do a half a mile each day then do that. Stick with what you are comfortable with for at least 3 weeks. Why? When you first start exercising your body needs to adopt, if you strain it, it will give out on you, and you will quit, and very fast. So, make sure you start slow and light, so that you can build some strength and endurance and so that your body can say "o.k. I know how to adopt now, so that I don't get injured." You may even want to consider joining a gym. If you are in the Belmopan area, I highly recommend Muscle Hut Fitness Club.
3. Stay Positive: It might sound a little cliched, but if you don't stay positive, you will give up. For example, if you end up at a birthday party and have a few drinks and cake, don't beat up yourself about not eating healthy, consider that a cheat meal, and focus on the fact that you ate healthy meals 6 days out of that week, so one day won't harm you, just do an extra half mile or mile the following week to burn off those calories, it will put your right back in a positive mind frame.
In conclusion, there is no smooth road to getting healthy, but most importantly, there is no quick short cut either.
Becoming health is a lifestyle, it is not a destination. The longer you do it, the more natural it will become to you, and eventually you won't even think about it as 'work', it will be as natural as drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Never forget: take it nice and slow at first - I recommend 3 months - this will assure that you stick to it.
Stay healthy my friends.
