Actun Tunichil Muknal (Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre)

Time to destination: 47 minutes

This cave, which is locally known as the ATM cave, is a popular Maya archeological cave where you will be able to experience skeletons, ceramics, and stoneware. A particularly interesting experience will be the "The Crystal Maiden", which is the skeleton of an adolescent (an 18-year-old girl) whose bones have be calcified to a sparkling, crystallized appearance, and it is believed that she was a sacrifice victim.

Belize Zoo

Time to destination: 23 minutes

The Belize Zoo is a very popular destination for visitors to Belize. It is home to more than 175 individuals of 48 species native to Belize, and only houses native animals... and most impressive is the fact that not one animal in this zoo has ever been taken from the wild. Resident animals were either people’s pets, donated to the zoo, injured and brought in for healing and rehabilitation, born at the zoo, or sent to the zoo from another zoological facility.

St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park

Time to destination: 29 Minutes

This park has some unique ecological features that you will certainly enjoy. Taking a swim in the cool, refreshing natural pool, which is the result of a collapsed underground cave. You will be able to take an unguided 200 yards walk into the cave and take a full tour. You will see beautiful speleothems and Mayan artifacts.

Guanacaste National Park

Time to destination: 15 minutes

This 50 acre park, due to its small size, will allow you to experience Belize's rich wildlife and tropical vegetation in a short time. You will learn about about plants and their traditional uses, fungus farming leaf-cutter ants, and the mini-ecosystem inside a bromeliad. The habitat at this park is known as a secondary broadleaf forest, which benefits many birds and wildlife, including the shy and secretive “tiger cat” or Jaguarundi and Black howler monkeys.

Caves Branch

Time to destination: 26 minutes

Head over to Ian Anderson's Caves branch where he offers some of the best cave tubing tours in Belize. This is Ian Anderson’s first and, it is, Belize’s longest and most spectacular “River of Caves” cave tubing float. You can experience over 7 miles underground caves. You will float on inner tubes with only your headlamp to light your way. You will experience stalagmites and stalactites, underground waterfalls, the crystal cathedral, a spiritual center to the ancient Maya.

Belize River Tour

Time to destination: 5 minutes

One of our favorite things to do is to jump in a boat, just on the river banks where our Belize Banana Bank jungle lodge is located, and take a slow, relaxing tour down the Belize River. You will observe many of Belize's plants and wildlife in their natural habitat: You will have the chance to see birds, iguanas, otters, howler monkeys and many more on this historic river, which was also one of the main rivers the Baymen used to transport logwood.

Horseback Riding

Time to destination: 5 minutes

Our Banana Bank jungle lodge is home to one of the most popular horseback riding tour in Belize. Our estate has miles of jungle and riverside trails. We have about 90 head of well-kept, mixed breeds, predominately quarter horses that are waiting to take you on a fun and exciting adventure through the jungles of Belize.

Bartoon Creek Cave Reserve

Time to destination: 1 hour

This fun activity will take you, first, on a drive through the historic and picturesque Mennonite farm community, and then on to the caves. You will get on board a canoe and a local guide will row you deep inside the Barton Creek Cave. Pointing your head lamp to light up the cave ahead of you, you will see amazing formations inside the huge cave which the Maya believed to be the Underworld.

Cahal Pech Maya Temple

Time to destination: 52 minutes

This Mayan Temple in Belize is quite unique, due to the fact that it sits just on the outskirts of the twin town of San Ignacio. Literally a few feet from a modern town, you step back in time and tour this palatial, hilltop home for an elite Maya family. It is also one of the oldest recognizably Maya sites in Western Belize. You will zip through a collection of 34 structures, with the tallest temple being about 25 meters in height, situated around a central acropolis. The name Cahal Pech, means "Place of the Ticks" in the Yucatec Maya language.

Golfing

Time to destination: 17 minutes

The only functioning golf course in all of Belize is located right in our backyard. At the Roaring River Golf Course you can get your golf on with 18 hole (9 holes double tees boxes) on an executive style course that measures 3,892 yards long and plays to a Par 64. The Course Rating is 66 and the Slope Rating is 116. The owner has done an excellent job in blending this golf course in its natural surroundings. The fairways are lined with indigenous trees as well as natural jungle growth. All greens are elevated and bunkered. Crocodiles will observe while you tee off , and as you enjoy a fun day of golf, you will also get the chance to see various other wildlife such as iguanas, small mammals and over 120 different species of birds, making it a birders' paradise.
