Tips for Fly Fishing: Fly Fishing is a deadly technique once you master the basics. Salt water fly fishing requires heavier tackle for speed and accuracy. These are the keys to success especially PERMIT fishing. A standard WF line to give you a better presentation. I have no doubt if an angler can cast fifty feet, that he can't catch a permit, but he must try his utmost best to perfect his casting techniques. Remember cast and pray does not get you there. Do not rush your cast you may miss a few opportunities, but accurate presentation is what counts. It is somewhat frustrating to guides to be putting angler on fish over and over and have the angler making bad cast. Any angler should not wait until they are on the flats to think about practicing. Tips for spin fishing: This is a demanding sport, its up to you the angler to be ready.
You need three good casting rod and reel, rigged and ready to go - one for tarpon, one for bonefish and permit, and one for the toothy critters.
Make sure drags are set before your fishing day starts.
No matter how small your spin gear, both hands must be on the grip to make accurate cast.
Face your target squarely and focus on the spot you want to hit.
Your tackle must be kept in prime condition, lines must be changed frequently and the condition of your reel checked prior to your fishing trip.
